Overview

In the children's app market, the hard part is not producing content but earning the parent's trust. Before handing an app to their child, a parent wants to know three things: is the content age-appropriate, will ads appear, and is data being collected?

Hikaye Kutusu was built with those three questions at the centre of its design. Every story was selected to be age-appropriate, free of violence and negative examples, and to carry a positive message. The app commits to the Google Play Families Policy and shares no data with third parties.

The app supports two modes of use together. For children still learning to read there is a "Listen" mode with professional narration — particularly useful in bedtime routines. For those who want to read themselves, there is an easy-reading mode built with child-friendly typefaces that do not strain the eyes.

The interface was kept simple enough to navigate without adult help: large touch targets, few screens, no clutter. Once downloaded, stories can be read and listened to without an internet connection — an important detail for journeys and places without coverage.
